Wales now boasts being in possession of two of the AGWs five Majors after David Facey amassed 40 points to capture the Ron Moseley Memorial trophy at Royal Mid-Surrey.

Dave posted 11 pars and with eight of those being three-pointers.  He went out with 22 points and came in 18 for his one-point victory, and this also after the anxiety of not scoring on the 17th.

It is Dave’s second AGW triumph and like the ole No. 18 bus he jumps aboard for a second AGW ETIQUS ‘Race to Royal Liverpool’ victory title in just five events after breaking his AGW golfing ‘duck’ in winning last year’s Michael Williams Hogget at Royal Portrush.

It is the first occasion since Peter Godsiff in 2002 that Wales has held two AGW titles at the same time.

Hearty congratulations to Dave and with the effort taking him from a share of sixth to the top of the ETIQUS – ‘Race to Royal Liverpool’ points table with 96 points and with still two AGW matches remaining.

Rob Perkins made a bold bid for glory playing his last eight holes in one-under thanks to seven pars and a closing hole birdie to be home in 22 points and a total of 39 points and one less than Dave.

The effort has seen Rob jump seven spots to third  with 90 points on the ‘Race to Royal Liverpool’ standings.

Neil McLeman, and winner earlier this year of the Presidents Putter, shared third place with Alan Fraser on 32 points, and with Neil now second on the ‘Race To Royal Liverpool’ points and just four adrift of Dave at 92 points.

In fact, it has turned the 2018 ‘Race to Royal Liverpool’ into a three-horse effort with Rob 28 points ahead of Andy Farrell in fourth spot on the points standing.

Fourteen AGW members teed-up on the wonderful J.H. Taylor course at Royal Mid-Surrey and for many it was a first occasion to play the famed course located just a short distance to the heart of London.

But while the majority of those teeing-up managed to squeeze out plenty of pars over the course of the afternoon a check of the cards revealed just three birdies among the group and that was Colin Harding’s ‘3’ on the par-4 sixth, Brian McLaughlin producing a ‘3’ on 13, and of course, Rob’s (Perkins) effort on 18

A special thanks to Alan (Fraser) and Brian Creighton who made the effort to join the gathering but sadly Colin Callander’s effort to compete was derailed by the notorious M-25.

And in closing a very big thank you to John Collard from Sports Impact who was instrumental in arranging for the club to play host to the AGW, and with John also kindly arranging drinks and a meal after the golf.
