Apologies as the AGW was three years behind however Jock MacVicar, Michael McDonnell and Gordon Richardson were delighted to each receive a commemorative AGW badge endorsed silver tray to mark the occasion in being 50 years a member of the AGW

Jock joined the AGW in 1965 while Michael and Gordon a year later.  Congratulations to all three on a wonderful achievement.

Jock kindly emailed:

Very many thanks for the wonderful plate with the AGW badge on it. It was a complete surprise and very, very much appreciated. A very nice thing for the mantlepiece or the trophy cabinet (if I had one)  Jock

Gordon Richardson sent the following note:-

Less than 24 hours after ‘Les Blues’ carried off the World Cup in Moscow I was popping my own ‘Jules Rimet Trophy’  – an elegant engraved pewter plate – int o another French trophy cabinet here in the Dordogne.
Can it possibly be half a century since, proposed by Ron Heager seconded by Bob Rodney, I took my place alongside the legendary likes of Messrs Longhurst, Crawley, Ward-Thomas and Laidlaw as a proud member of the AGW?
It must be because my son, Justin, born that very same year, turned 50 in February.
As we go into another Open Championship week I have treasured memories of all my old buddies. My golf writing life has been a pleasure and a privilege.
Merci beaucoup for remembering me, Gordo

And the AGW would be remiss not to extend 60th anniversary congratulations to John Ingham and Ben Wright with our longest-living members having joined the AGW in 1958.
