Ian Riach was aged 85-years when he passed away in January 2023 and having been born in 1937, a year prior to the AGW was founded.
His wife Irene indicated Ian passed away two months shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Ian joined the AGW in 1987 meaning he had been a proud member for 36-years.
His funeral took place on Thursday February 9th at the Hurlet Crematorium, Glasgow Rd, Glasgow G53 7TH

It was with great sadness that I learned about the passing of Ian Riach, having been grateful to him for his support when I was starting out in the world of golf writing.
Ian was one of the senior sports writers at the Scottish Sunday Express at the time and, through my role at the David Begg Sports Agency, I filed a regular golf feature.
Ian was a good golfer himself and I recall sharing some great times together at various media events around Scotland.
Another giant of Scottish sports writing has been taken from us with Ian’s passing.
