The 2017 Presidents’ Putter was played over the superb Hillside links on Sunday April 22nd with Dick Turner emerging victorious after a closely-fought battle at the top of the leader board in an historic outing for the AGW.

It was the first occasion the AGW has competed at Hillside, a venue for Open Championship qualifying for a very long time.

Dick, the winner of the R&A Salver in 2015, had an outward half of 18 Stableford points and came home with 13, for a total of 31 and victory by just one point over five others – Patricia Davies, Colin Callander, Rob Perkins, Greg Allen and Neil McLeman.

On Monday, 23rd April AGW members played at Royal Birkdale for the R&A Salver. Despite blustery conditions the weather was kind and the competition was fierce. In the end victory went to Rob Perkins, who came in with 35 points to finish three ahead of his nearest rivals.

Tied second were Shane O’Donoghue and Dan Murphy, with Alistair Tait and Greg Allen one stroke further in arrears.   Unfortunately, injuries forced both Dick Turner and Derek Lawrenson out without them being able to finish the round.

Now after the opening three events of the ETIQUS – AGW Golfer of the Year season it is Colin Callander just slightly ahead of Alistair Tait.
