ITEMS FOR INTEREST 

The executive of the Association of Golf Writers meeting on Sunday morning of the Masters and here are matters of interest to all AGW members. I have outlined various points in order of date.

BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIP – PARKING, RANGE ACCESS AND NEW MEDIA CENTER ARRANGEMENTS

A meeting during Masters week with Scott Crockett of the European Tour indicaed parking and the Wentworth rance access wlill be back to ‘normal during BMW PGA Championship week.

All Monday to Sunday media will be parked alongside the Media Center in what is Car Park 4, and Monday to Wednesday and essentially non-working media in Car Park 6A – the overflow media car park.

As well, in a trail move the Tour will be doing away with the main scoreboard at the BMW PGA and with each desk to have a scoring laptop featuring all relevant statistics.  Desks are also being re-arranged to face the 18th hole grandstand and with two large TV and scoring screens facing desks.

The Media Center cafe will be relocated to the area where the former interview room and scoreboard were. A new interview room will be in place close to the main entrance to also help better facilitate the movement of players in and out of the center.

SPRING MEDAL MEETING – KILKEEL GC – Sat 30th May

Arrangements are in place for the AGW’s first meeting outside of mainland UK – Saturday 30th May at the Kilkeel GC – a short drive from Royal County Down and host for the Irish Open.

The club has kindly afforded us four tee times commencing at 7am and extra if numbers are good.

However please contact AGW Golf Captain Peter Dixon asap to reserve your place – first 16 confirmed will play.

The event will the first AGW Order of Merit event in the race for ETIQUS Golfer of the Year and the prize of a £300 ETIQUS wristwatch of your choice.

AGW ANNUAL DINNER – Tuesday 16th July.

Given the unavailability of an on-course facility this year the 2015 Annual Dinner of the AGW will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Old Courese Hotel (located alongside the Old Course 17th hole).

The dinner will be held on a Tuesday night – 16th July commencing at 6.30am.

The Old Course Hotel can cater for 340 members and guests and this is some 20 more than in past years at other Open venues.

Dinner ticket prices will remain at £50 per person.  Details and information re payment will be advised at a later date.

It has been on hold for the past few weeks what with your Secretary back out on the Tour however it should be up and running by Wentworth.

AGW MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTIONS 

There is still a very good number of AGW members whoare not financial for 2015.  Some of those approached during Master week indicated they would be play during Open Championship week. 

However it would please our hard-working Treasurer Bob Davies very much if you arrange payment as soon as convenient and not wait to The Open.

As well, there is the option of arranging a direct debit payment at the start of each New Year as is the practice of the great majority of AGW memembers.
